If one of your user missed a payment to to an expired card or a declined transaction, you will need to update their CC information in Authorize.net before the next scheduled payment is set to be run. For the transaction they missed, communicate to the customer that they will need to pay for that payment via the profile.

You do not want your users to make payment from their profile unless they missed a payment. This will cause for the user to be over billed. If they HAVE paid from their profile page on an Automatic Payment Plan you will need to change the remaining balance for that user in their Authorize.net subscription.

To avoid this in the future, make sure to contact your members about updating their information once Auth.net send you the Future Expiring Notification.

Custom Payment Plan (CIM)

If a member is set up on a custom payment plan and needs to change their credit card information, you will need to make the change directly in your Authorize.net account. You will need to do the following:

4. Find the user's Profile ID

6.  WIth CIM you also have the ability to charge the customer for any missed payments directly from here. To do this, click the charge button, select 'Use Payment Profile for Shipping", select 'Authorize and Capture' under transaction Type and then enter amount your would like to charge under Total Amount.

You do not want your users to make payment from their profile as Authorize.net does not connect that to their Custom Payment Plan subscription in Authorize.net. If they HAVE paid from their profile page on an Automatic Payment Plan you will need to change the remaining balance for that user in their Authorize.net subscription.

To avoid this in the future, make sure to contact your members about updating their information once Auth.net send you the Future Expiring Notification.
